There were no sparks. No fireworks. Honestly? It was quite the opposite.

I was sitting there thinking: What’s something people immediately understand? And the thought popped into my head, a murder mystery game that involved in-laws.

Now before anyone panics… no, I don’t hate mine. Not even a little. In fact, I’m pretty sure I hit the in-law jackpot. They’re kind, supportive, and genuinely wonderful people.

But if you’ve spent more than five minutes online (or at a family gathering), you’ve probably heard the stories. The tension and complaints. The awkward holidays. The dread people joke about when it comes to marrying into a family.

That’s where the inspiration really came from, not from personal vendettas, but from the collective energy around in-laws. The power struggles and the smiles that don’t quite reach the eyes.

I wanted to explore that feeling.

What happens when polite disagreement turns into something darker? When everyone has a reason but no one wants to say it out loud?

When I started sketching out the idea, I ran the rough version by my husband (who, thankfully, knows I adore his family). He added a few twists, some well-placed tension, and just enough misdirection to make things interesting.

And just like that, ’Til Death Do Us Part with In-Laws was born.

I won’t spoil anything here. Half the fun is discovering it yourself, but I will say this: the mystery isn’t about shock value. It's about uncomfortable truths and how quickly “family” can become complicated.

If you’ve ever thought, This dinner feels tense or Something’s off here, you’ll feel right at home.

As always, thanks for following along and stay curious!
